new job

Well I am wore slap out...I am not gonna lie! I started a new job yesterday and I am plum tuckered out! It's a job at a roofing supply place and I'm basically moving rolls of really heavy roofing material all around the storage place all day. Sure beats sitting in an office, but it would be very nice to be doing this in the tropics...oh wait I AM in the tropics...I guess that switching out palm trees for tar kettles, boats for dump trucks, a sandy beach for hot asphalt, and the call of a seagull for the roar of a forklift kinda kills the whole tropical ambience...oh well, one step closer to the getting my seaplane...maybe I'll name it the Sea Duck...maybe not...maybe some of you will actually get that (we'll see lol).

weird...

OK yesterday was an incredibly strange day...I did something that felt very strange. I apologize for my ambiguity but I just don't want to discuss specifics. It's not anything disgusting or illegal or anything like that (and for those of you who have your minds in the gutter...it's not THAT lol)...Jimmy would have approved :-) (so I guess that totally illegal and somewhat disgusting are not out of the question lol). It's just that I was caught off guard in how it made me feel...Either way, I feel somewhat introverted now...very disappointing. Oh well...the storm clouds will eventually roll into Margaritaville at some point, I reckon...

new stuff...

Well this is actually yesterday's post, but alas...I find myself in the wee hours of the morning typing away at my keyboard to keep my faithful readers (all two of you) abreast of the inane details of my existence. Anyway...I joined a gym today. It's called Porky's. I like the name because it reminds me of myself :-D (and my eating habits lol). It's an excellent gym facility...very masculine. The place is done up in a yellow and black motif with signs that denote the machines that work out the various parts of the human musculature. I don't know whether to think of a construction site, or a police crime scene (I'm pretty sure they're going for the construction site, although the unsavory characters that I ran into tell me otherwise). At any rate, it was a very positive experience and I look forward to making a daily visit to this gym part of my schedule. The locker room also smelled very good. It had this sort of citrus/pine sol/disinfectant aroma...made me feel very anti-bacterial :-). That is a definite plus. I also realized that trying to use a cardio machine while listening to Buffett is counter-productive. Playlist reorganization will commence at once...

P.S. Please forgive the paramilitary tone...I just watched the new Transformers movie with my cuz...it was fun...he's a riot.

P.S.S. I think I'm going to start signing all of the posts as "6" but I'll probably forget sometimes...oh well it's not that important. It just looks kind of cool IMHO...let me know if yall disagree. It probably won't change the fact that I'll do it, but hey...anything is possible in Margaritaville :-D

P.P.S.S. This is the Camaro that was shamelessly advertised in the movie...if the idea was to make people like me drool over the car and desire one for my very own...mission accomplished :-)

no friggin way....

I met someone today who is probably one of the most accomplished piano players I've ever heard. I'm not going to post his name, but WOW. He can play some stinkin jazz, blues, and improvisational classical music on those ivories! He was incredible. I'm going to try and take some lessons from him pretty soon. Hopefully I can get a friggin job soon so that I can pay for cool stuff like art deco furniture and piano lessons...friggin capitalism (hey I'd be playing on a community piano if we were socialsts, so I better shut up lol). Anyway, thank God for a free market economy!!! So that little encounter overshadowed my other adventure for today which was a short road trip down to the keys. Between reading "Where Is Joe Merchant?", listening to a heap of Buffett tunes (I just discovered that my dad owns the entire Buffett discography), writing in this blog, and listening to Radio Margaritaville (while reading http://www.margaritaville.com/) I have just been immersed in all things Parrothead! It's a rough life in Miami, I tell ya (not really lol) but it's all ok when a little Jimmy seeps into the eardrums...

ahhh much better

Ok the initial wedding shock thing is over now and I feel much better. A chocolate malt from Swensen's, a good hair cut, and a couple of self-inflicted Jimmy Buffett tunes on the guitar (hummed, not sung...out of respect [and fear of my own voice :-)] of course) and I am back in business. Today has been a great day. I was able to see some of my family again and spend some time with them (which is always a plus) in addition to doing some reading. I'll probably just hang out the rest of the day and maybe get some reading done...maybe watch a movie, I don't know. It was just really nice to see some of the folks again. Talk to yall soon!

An Emotional Cacophony

Life has been rather strange lately. Since moving back down here, it's just been rather odd. It's just weird that a place and people can change so much in just four short years. When I was in college, I would come home to visit and my friends and I would do all of the same stuff that we used to do back in high school. Now, nobody's here...all my friends have moved off, or they're still in college, or they're in grad school...let's not even BEGIN to mention the fact that I am entering into that dangerous era of single-ness where all of my friends are starting to get married, so the invitations will be rolling in...

You are cordially invited to attend the glorious and splendid union of:
____your friend____ and ___some chick___ in Holy matrimony. We
would be honored if you would grace us with your presence....

It's just freakin awkward when all of this stuff is happening all around you. Oh well, we'll see what happens in the next couple of days...'till next time...
